Situated on both sides of the River Looe, with a connecting bridge. Its fleet of small fishing boats returning their catches to the port, Looe has a reputation for producing excellent fresh fish. In the Summer season there are fishing trips and boat trips available. East Looe's beach is beside Banjo Pier, a popular place to watch boats departing and returning.
Looe's amenities include pubs, restaurants, shops and a Tourist Information Centre. A branch railway line connects Looe with Liskeard, and the main Penzance to Paddington line. The branch line is a scenic alternative to the road. There are countryside walks from the stations en route.
Near by attractions include the Woolly Monkey Sanctuary, Anthony House, Cotehele, Mount Edgcumbe, Eden Project and Lanhydrock House.
